Through the support of Maribyrnong City Council Arts and Culture, Shadow Resonance and Dawn Industry are proud to produce this special event for the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2026.
We’re bringing together five boundary-defying artists who craft moments of introspection, darkness and beauty. A world of live cinematic soundscapes and haunting melodies, where delicate strings meet deep, resonant drones and moments of quiet give way to powerful crescendos. Step into the shadows, and experience music that lingers long after the final notes fade…

The Perfomers
Violinsidious
Violinsidious is the solo project of violinist, Instrumentalist and producer Jeremy Lowen. Built around live-looping, layered violin and a fascination of what can happen when the familiar is pushed somewhere less so.
Once active in the Melbourne/Naarm music scene through the 2000’s and 2010’s as the violinist for several great bands including Paint me A Phoenix and Store Bought Cool, that is before largely disappearing for the better part of a decade. Now in 2026, re-emerging, re-energised and re-engorged upon the scene with Violinsidious, a project that gives him room to work alone, deep into the night hours to follow where an idea may lead. To build something bold and new in real time.
In addition and elsewhere, he is making his presence felt as the violinist for Pooka & The Woodsmen, but Violinsidious occupies a different territory. Solitary, experimental, unconstrained by expectation. The live-looping is less a technical device and more a way of composing in the moment, allowing melodies, textures and rhythms to accumulate into somersetting larger than their parts. It comes about from a taste for contradiction. Songs that drift from tenderness to tension. Something sweet that builds slowly to reveal its teeth. Cinematic and melodic, with an industrial undertow. Music that doesn’t demand your attention but will nonetheless take it.
Willebrant
Willebrant is the ambient field-drone project of Naarm/Melbourne based bassist and producer Karl Willebrant. Working with bass guitar, found instruments, synthesisers, and field recordings, Willebrant creates immersive textures and emotive expanses that invite the listener to form vivid visual narratives through sound.
In 2020, Willebrant retreated to the home studio to fully explore his long-standing relationship with ambient music, resulting in a prolific body of releases and collaborations with artists from Europe, the United States, India, and Australia. In recent years, Willebrant has performed extensively across Australia’s east coast, including support for IKSRE on her Abundance album tour, appearances with performance artist Stelarc, and performances with Japanese avant-garde noise improvisation duo HUH. He has also performed as bassist with avant rock/sound art group, James Hullick & the BOLT Ensemble for ECSTATIC at the Sydney Opera House. Solo performances include appearances at MONA (Hobart), Fatamorgana (Sydney) and the Warm Mids Afternoon mini ambient festivals across Melbourne.
Karl is a Graduate of Jazz and Contemporary Music, Conservatorium of Music, Hobart Tasmania 1996.
Beyond the Lake
Melbourne based duo, Beyond the Lake features Anita Quayle on electric cello and Nick Delaney on electric guitar. Together they create ethereal, dreamlike soundscapes to soothe the soul. Utilising various effects and live looping they produce blissful textural music, providing a calming ambiance suitable for sleep, meditation, yoga, reading, and restlessness.
Their collaboration developed organically during the numerous 2020 Covid lockdowns in Melbourne.
Nick and Anita began live-streaming a series of improvisations called “Music for Sleep”, as a way of helping those struggling with the pandemic.
During that time, they performed over 50 live streams and released two live albums, “Music for Sleep Volumes 1 and 2”.
Beyond the Lake released their first studio-produced album, “Coming Home”, in April 2022. This record is a sonic and compositional expansion of selections from their live stream improvisations. The variety of instrumentation and sounds – piano, orchestral strings, brass, and field recordings of nature – reveal a deep richness that will take the listener on a beautiful journey.
Beyond the Lake were awarded the 2022 Creative Victoria ‘Music Works’ grant, to record their next body of work with 9 Victorian based musicians from staggeringly creative and diverse backgrounds.
Minorarc
Minorarc is a dark classical, cinematic and progressive metal project that was founded by underground music figurehead Ivan Bullock.
For over 20 years, Ivan has been an active recording artist and promoter for Australian arts and experimental / underground music. A classically trained violinist and multi-instrumentalist, his modern musical journey began in Tokyo. The first project Mystral Tide signed to Brisbane’s Zeitgeist Records and performed in Japan, Europe and Australia.
Returning to Australia in 2003, he founded a decade-long concert series in Melbourne titled Enzyme, to showcase and expose dozens of Australian emerging and genre-crossing musicians.
For over a decade he has recorded, self-published and performed as Minorarc, the music shifting from previous synth-heavy darkened electronica, into the lands of progressive metal and post-rock.
Since 2023 the project has been joined by Eric Shek on violin, Brendan Henriques on bass, and long-term collaborator Ben Smith on guitar.
Emily Rosner
Emily Rosner is a Melbourne-based harpist, vocalist and composer whose work explores the intersection of contemporary harp performance, cinematic soundscapes and immersive storytelling. Combining acoustic and electric harp with voice, looping and live effects processing, she creates richly textured performances that move between ambient, neoclassical, folk and experimental music traditions.
Known for pushing the boundaries of the harp beyond its classical associations, Emily uses the instrument as a vehicle for atmosphere, emotion and narrative. Her compositions draw inspiration from personal stories, place and human connection, transforming delicate melodies and resonant textures into deeply evocative listening experiences. Her work has been commissioned by local government and arts organisations, including the City of Casey, where she developed Gather, a contemporary song cycle exploring migration, identity and belonging through community storytelling.
Whether performing in concert halls, intimate venues or unconventional spaces, Emily invites audiences into sonic worlds that are both contemplative and cinematic. Her performances balance technical artistry with spontaneity and emotional depth, creating moments that linger.
